countW/Chinese Privacy Policy
This Privacy Policy describes how the Google Workspace™ add-on countW/Chinese (the “Add-on”) handles information when used with Google Docs™.
The Add-on is provided by the developer (“we,” “us,” or “the developer”). By installing or using the Add-on, you acknowledge that this Privacy Policy governs your use of the Add-on and its related services. If you do not agree with this Policy, you should discontinue use and revoke the Add-on’s permissions in your Google Account settings.
We may update this Privacy Policy at any time. Continued use of the Add-on after an update constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
1. Scope of This Policy
This Policy applies only to the countW/Chinese Add-on operating inside Google Docs™ under the Google Workspace™ platform.
This Policy does not apply to:
- Google services themselves
- Any third-party applications
- Any website not operated by the developer
Google’s own privacy practices are governed by Google’s Privacy Policy.
2. Data Accessed
To function, the Add-on requires limited permission to read the currently open Google Docs™ document.
The Add-on accesses only:
- The text content of the active document currently open in the editor
- Basic document structure necessary to compute statistics
The Add-on does not access:
- Google Drive file listings
- Other documents
- Emails
- Contacts
- Google account profile data
- Device information
The Add-on cannot access a document unless the user opens the document and actively runs the Add-on.
3. Data Usage
The accessed data is used exclusively to provide the requested functionality, including:
- Counting words
- Counting Chinese characters
- Displaying real-time statistics
All processing occurs inside Google Apps Script within the user’s Google Workspace™ environment. The document content is processed temporarily in memory and is not used for any secondary purpose.
The Add-on does not:
- perform profiling
- perform tracking
- perform advertising
- train AI models
- analyze documents beyond counting statistics
4. Data Sharing
We do not sell, transfer, disclose, or share Google user data with any third parties.
Specifically:
- No document content is transmitted outside Google’s environment
- No external servers receive document text
- No advertisers receive data
- No analytics providers receive data
Because the Add-on runs inside Google’s authorized execution environment, document content remains within Google systems.
5. Data Storage & Protection
The Add-on does not store document content.
Security characteristics:
- No external database
- No cloud storage
- No background collection
- No persistent logs containing user text
The Add-on relies on Google OAuth authorization and inherits Google Workspace platform security protections.
Document text exists only temporarily during script execution and is discarded immediately after processing.
6. Data Retention & Deletion
We retain no user document data.
Therefore:
- There is no stored user content
- There is no user database
- There is no developer-held personal data
Users may revoke access at any time through:
Google Account → Security → Third-party access → Remove countW/Chinese
Once access is revoked, the Add-on can no longer read documents.
Because no data is stored, there is no additional deletion process required.
7. Cookies, Tracking, and Analytics
The Add-on does not use cookies, tracking technologies, analytics services, advertising networks, or behavioral profiling.
8. Children’s Privacy
The Add-on is not directed toward children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone, including minors, because the Add-on does not collect personal information at all.
9. Third-Party Services
The Add-on does not integrate third-party APIs, external services, or external storage providers. All operations occur only within Google Workspace™.
10. Uninstalling the Add-on
You may uninstall or disconnect the Add-on at any time by removing it from Google Docs™ or revoking its access permissions in your Google Account.
Once removed, the Add-on will immediately lose access to any documents.
11. Changes to This Policy
We may modify this Privacy Policy to comply with panel requirements or Google platform policies. Updated versions will be posted on the official website. Continued use of the Add-on after changes indicates acceptance of the revised Policy.
12. Contact Information
For privacy questions, support, or requests, please contact the developer through the Support & About page on the official website.
